Conflict is a part of every day business and life. It is estimated that corporate leaders spend as much as 60% of their time and energy dealing with conflict. Managed effectively, conflict can enrich individual, group, and organizational effectiveness. Managed poorly, conflict can contribute to dysfunctional work teams, which in turn can undermine the potential success of any company or organization.

The desired outcome of managing conflict is to restore efficiency and effectiveness to the workplace. This requires more than just the absence of conflict. It requires understanding conflict as a system. OSI’s CM seminar re-frames much of what business leaders have been taught about conflict, such as getting to the facts or clarifying communications – both good practices but incomplete to deal effectively with conflict. CM participants will explore the main reasons for conflict, and learn to apply the Seven Skills needed to solve conflict related problems.

Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, “The presence of opposites . . . is the occasion for the great man to develop.” Being able to effectively manage conflict is essential in leading for greatness.
